The second cake is for a little boy turning one. It was an all star birthday party and focused on basketball, football, and soccer. The balls are made from rice krispy treats and the cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream.

Birthday Weekend
Had a busy weekend full of cakes and football games. Luckily I had Friday off and was able to work on the cakes that were needed for Saturday. The first cake was for a pirate themed birthday where the little boy turned 5.
Dreamsicle
Who remembers the ice cream truck coming around the neighborhood and buying one of the dreamsicle ice cream popsicles? Well I do and it was one of my favorite things on the ice cream truck. When I discovered a soda that tasted exactly like that, it was a great discovery. My family was sitting around and started talking about those delicious popsicles and I thought why not turn them into cupcakes. Let me just say...DELICIOUS! These cupcakes are amazing. I haven't made them since but am trying to find a reason to in the immediate future!
Sunflower Wedding
This was my third wedding cake to make and I think I improve a little with each one...this one turned out amazing. It is a lemon cake with raspberry filling and raspberry buttercream. The flowers are not edible. It was for a cute, rustic sunflower theme wedding. The wedding was beautiful and I hope the amazing family enjoyed the cake on their special day!
Who's Your Favorite?? AVENGERS!
A high school friend's son turned five in July of 2012. I was asked to make an Avengers themed cake for his pool party he was having. I had great ideas and began to implement them....then my AC went out. IT WAS 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE! Let's just say craziness. I had to make some adjustments because the fondant was melting before I could even use it. If it was doing that in my still somewhat decently cooled house, I couldn't imagine being outside for a couple of hours. I think the end result still ended up pretty good, and I know the kiddos all really enjoyed it. I have another cake to make for them in a couple weeks! (I know it's been that long since I posted anything).
The cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream. The Hulk hand is made of rice krispy treat and covered in fondant. The signs and emblems are all fondant as well. The birthday boy then had some cool action figures to keep or give away to his friends afterwards.
Orioles Magic, Make it Happen
LET'S GO O's!!! A baseball, ahem Orioles, fan turned 40 and wanted a cake to show the love of his team and his age (this was a surprise party!). I think this cake turned out pretty cool!
Outdoor Baby Shower
My cousin had her baby shower and asked me to make the cake and left the design up to me. I wanted to experiment with flavor so I made a strawberry soda cake with vanilla buttercream. The tub is made of cake and outlined with pirouette cookies and blue piping gel as the water. There are fondant accents (the duck and baby clothes) and non edible decorations as well. I wanted her to have a little keepsake from the cake!
Circles and Stripes
I was asked to make a bridal shower cake for a high school classmate of mine. The decorations for the party were shades of pink with circles and stripes and I was asked to match that. This cake is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and accented with fondant decorations.
Baby Shower Quilt
I was asked to make a baby shower cake last May but was told to do whatever and that the baby is a little girl. It was kind of a last minute order and I didn't have as much time as I normally would like so I quickly researched some simple but cute cake designs for baby showers and this is what I came up with! It looks very time consuming but was actually quite easy!
This is a lemon cake with a raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream piped into a baby quilt pattern. The baby rattles are not edible but everything else is. I received lots of compliments on this cake. I definitely recommend trying something like this if you want to learn to use a piping bag!

Time to Catch Up
It's been a while since I've posted my creations! I promise I haven't been slacking on the cakes, just on the blog. Now it's time to change that and catch up on showing my baked goods.
I apologize but bare with me! I have lots of new things coming!
